Events Around Falmouth 2017

Falmouth stages a wide range of exciting events throughout the year both on and off the water. We have Falmouth Spring Festival in March when the town is bedecked with spring flowers and a range of events take place around the town. On the water we have the spectacular Falmouth Classics sailing regatta. Set in the finest sailing waters in the South of England it is three days of racing featuring classic sailing craft and other traditional vessels with the added bonus of free access to the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, which takes place in the town at the same time. We also have a number of great food events including the annual Oyster Festival in October.

Spring Festival - 30th March - 17th April www.falmouth.co.uk
As profiled on the BBCs Great British Garden Revival programme, this wonderful early season festival is a vibrant, community orientated event. The festival brings an explosion of colour, life and activity to the town. Celebrating Falmouth's open and green spaces with activities like Paint the Town Yellow Day, Fitness on the Moor, Run Falmouth, Spring Flower Show, Folk & Cider Fayre and a host of guided walks.

This fantastic ten day festival is a not-for-profit community festival which encompasses over 150 events varying from music and drama, the arts and heritage to gig racing, swimming, walking and lots more. All the action takes place in Falmouth, Truro and around the Roseland Peninsula where there are a wide range of events to take part in.

Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival is one of the biggest maritime music concerts in Europe! The town will be filled with music, singing and infused with a great community spirit. The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival is held at multiple venues throughout the town with main stages being Seasalt Stage on Custom House Quay, Skinners Stage on Events Square and Seven Stars Stage on The Moor.

Timed to coincide with Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, this sailing event is a relaxing rally of classic sailing craft and other traditional vessels. The event features over 170 gaffers, luggers and Bermudan rigged vessels from all around the South West and elsewhere in the UK, France and the Netherlands. The Falmouth Haven becomes a floating community filled with beautiful and interesting boats.

The ZestiFAL Festival will showcase a whole range of different activities inviting the public to have a go. There will be a wide range of activities available for people of all ages and abilities to take part in. This is an opportunity to try something new including pilates, zumba, tennis, archery, triathlon, climbing, cricket, hockey, swimming or nordic walking. The towns open spaces from The Moor and Events Square, to Kimberley Park and Gyllyngvase Beach, will be transformed so as to provide wonderful venues for all the fun.

Dating back to a local sailing regatta held in 1837, Falmouth Week has grown into the largest sailing regatta in the south west with more than 200 yachts racing over eight days. There is also a lively programme of shoreside events taking place from the Moor to Events Square including the carnival, fireworks, air displays, daytime and evening entertainment bands/acts, children's activities and much more.

Splash is a festival of the arts celebrating and inspired by Falmouth's creative spirit. The festival includes award winning plays, contemporary dance, light and sound exhibitions and talks from the country's inspiring writers and illustrators.

Falmouth Oyster Festival celebrates the start of the oyster dredging season, the diversity and quality of Cornish Seafood and in particular, one of the last remaining traditional oyster fisheries, dredging by sail and hand punt. The festival is the highlight of Falmouth's Autumn calendar. There are seafood demonstrations with plenty of opportunity to sample amazing local produce. We have music, food and drink supplied by all the main Cornish Producers and a lively market showcasing all things from Cornwall.
