Events Around Falmouth 2018

Falmouth stages a wide range of exciting events throughout the year both on and off the water. We have Falmouth Spring Festival in March when the town is bedecked with spring flowers and a range of events take place around the town. On the water we have the spectacular Falmouth Classics sailing regatta. Set in the finest sailing waters in the South of England it is three days of racing featuring classic sailing craft and other traditional vessels with the added bonus of free access to the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, which takes place in the town at the same time. We also have a number of great food events including the annual Oyster Festival in October.

Spring Festival - 15th March - 2nd April
As profiled on the BBC, the Falmouth Spring Festival is a a wonderful early season celebration of coast, community and culture. The festival brings an explosion of colour, life and activity to the town. Events include Paint the Town Yellow Day and the Spring Flower Festival. We also have a range of games and fitness events together with the Folk and Cider Festival.
Fal River Festival - 25th May - 3rd June
This fantastic ten day festival is a not-for-profit community festival which encompasses over 150 events varying from music and drama, the arts and heritage to gig racing, swimming, walking and lots more. All the action takes place in Falmouth, Truro and around the Roseland Peninsula where there are a wide range of events to take part in.
Suhaili Falmouth 50 - 14th June
The Suhaili Falmouth 50 Parade of Sail event celebrates the day 50 years ago when Sir Robin Knox-Johnston set out from Falmouth to win the original Golden Globe Race and in doing so, become the first person to sail single-handed and non-stop around the world. Sailing aboard his famous yacht Suhaili, Sir Robin will lead Bernhard Moitessier's famous French yacht Joshua, Sir Francis Chichester's Gipsy Moth IV and Sir Alec Rose's Lively Lady in a parade of sail around Falmouth harbour saluted by those competing in the 2018 Golden Globe Race.
Sea Shanty Festival - 22nd - 24th June
Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival is one of the biggest maritime music festivals in Europe! The town will be filled with music, singing and infused with a great community spirit. The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival is held at multiple venues throughout the town with main stages being Seasalt Stage on Custom House Quay, Skinners Stage on Events Square and Seven Stars Stage on The Moor.
Falmouth Classics - 22nd - 24th June
Timed to coincide with Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, this sailing event attracts classic cruisers, racers and working boats with Bermudan, gaff and lug rigs. There are races and parades in the Carrick Roads and Falmouth Bay. Two hundred and twelve vessels entered in 2017. Vessels came from around the UK, Germany and France with one all the way from the USA, via the Antigua Classics.
ZestiFAL - 27th - 29th July
The ZestiFAL Festival will showcase a whole range of different activities inviting the public to have a go. There will be a wide range of activities available for people of all ages and abilities to take part in. This is an opportunity to try something new including pilates, zumba, tennis, archery, triathlon, climbing, cricket, hockey, swimming or nordic walking. The towns open spaces from The Moor and Events Square, to Kimberley Park and Gyllyngvase Beach, will be transformed so as to provide wonderful venues for all the fun.
Falmouth Week - 10th - 19th August
Dating back to a local sailing regatta held in 1837, Falmouth Week has grown into the largest sailing regatta in the south west with more than 200 yachts racing over eight days. There is also a lively programme of shoreside events taking place from the Moor to Events Square including the carnival, fireworks, air displays, daytime and evening entertainment bands/acts, children's activities and much more.
Falmouth Oyster Festival - 11th -14th Oct
Falmouth Oyster Festival celebrates the start of the oyster dredging season, the diversity and quality of Cornish Seafood and in particular, one of the last remaining traditional oyster fisheries, dredging by sail and hand punt. Daily cookery demonstrations are held during the festival by top chefs and food experts from Cornwall's hotels and restaurants, inspiring visitors to try their hand at unusual and exciting seafood combinations and indulge in the tastes of native oysters, wines, ales and local produce.
Falmouth Art Gallery - Events
Falmouth Art Gallery is family friendly and free. One of the leading art galleries in the South West, it has won or been nominated for 16 national awards. Falmouth Art Gallery runs a range of events throughout the year, including nationally recognised exhibitions and art fairs together with lectures and talks from artists and authors.
